Quarterflash est un groupe américain de musique pop rock new wave formé en 1980 à Portland, Oregon par Rindy Ross (chant, saxophone) et son mari Marv Ross (guitares), avec Jack Charles (guitare), Rick Digiallonardo (synthétiseurs), Rich Gooch (basse) et Brian david Willis (batterie, percussions). depuis 1990, le couple Ross est assisté de Sandin Wilson (choeur, basse), Greg Williams (batterie), Doug Fraser (guitare) et Mel Kubik (saxophone, synthés). Le premier album du même nom Quarterflash connut le succès d'entrée, sorti en 1981. Le second album Take Another Picture est sorti en 1983 maintenant le succès du groupe. Le troisième album Back Into Blue est sorti en 1985 mais le succès n'était plus là. Le quatrième album Girl in the Wind est sorti en 1991. Il faut attendre ensuite dix-sept ans pour voir apparaître un cinquième album Goodbye Uncle Buzz sorti en 2008. Enfin, le groupe Quarterflash vient de donner vie à un sixième album studio Love Is a Road sorti le 24 septembre 2013.

Une carrière assez discrète du groupe Quarterflash finalement, surtout en France où seul leur hit planétaire et premier single "Harden my heart" eu du succès. D'autres singles suivirent avec moins de succès dont "Critical times", "Valerie" sauf "Find another fool" qui fut très bien classé aussi tout comme "Right kind of love" issus du premier album Quarterflash. Le groupe a réalisé le single "Night shift" en 1983 pour la bande son du film Night Shift. Les deux singles "Take me to heart" et "Take another picture" sortis en 1983 ont eu un certain succès, extraits du second album Take Another Picture. A noter aussi le single "Make it shine" sorti en 1983 pour la bande son du film Gremlins. Deux singles furent sortis en 1985, "Talk to me" et "Walking on ice" issus du troisième album Back Into Blue. Aucun singles à ma connaissance ne furent extraits des albums suivants Girl in the Wind en 1991 puis de Goodbye Uncle Buzz sorti en 2008. Reste à savoir si un single sera extrait du dernier album Love Is a Road sorti le 24 septembre 2013 pour en faire la promotion!

Goldfrapp - Tales of Us (09/09/2013)

Le groupe ou plutôt duo anglais de musique électronique Goldfrapp avait sorti leur sixième album studio Tales of Us le 09 septembre 2013 dont presque tous les titres sont des prénoms et tous contiennent qu'un mot. De ce nouvel opus sont extraits deux singles, "Drew" sorti le 15 juillet 2013 et le second est "Annabel" sorti le 02 septembre 2013.

Voici la chanteuse suédoise Agnetha Fältskog, ex chanteuse du groupe fort célèbre ABBA, qui est de retour avec son douzième album studio mais son cinquième en anglais qui s'appelle simplement A et sorti le 10 mai 2013. De ce nouvel opus, déjà trois singles en sont extraits, tout d'abord le titre "The one who loves you now" sorti le 11 mars 2013, puis "When you really loved someone" sorti à la même date et enfin le titre "Dance your pain away" sorti le 15 juillet 2013.

Agnetha Fältskog est la belle chanteuse blonde du groupe ABBA, née le 05 avril 1950, mais pas que, car elle a débuté sa carrière solo en 1968 sortant 7 albums en suédois avant d'entamer la carrière d'ABBA. Après l'arrêt du phénoménal succès qu'a connu ABBA, elle entame une nouvelle carrière solo mais cette fois en anglais avec cinq albums à son actif. Le premier album est Wrap Your Arms Around Me sorti en mai 1983. Son second album est Eyes of a Woman sorti en mars 1985. Son troisième album est I Stand Alone sorti en décembre 1987 puis son quatrième album est My Colouring Book sorti dix-sept ans plus tard, en le 23 avril 2004. Il faudra patienter encore neuf années pour que Agnetha Fältskog sorte son cinquième album A le 10 mai 2013.

Durant sa carrière solo en anglais, Agnetha Fältskog a sorti une vingtaine de singles dont quelques duos notamment avec Peter Cetera ou Ola Häkansson (chanteur de Secret Service). Son premier single en anglais est le titre "Golliwog" en 1974 n'apparaissant pas sur un album studio. Son second single "Never again" en duo avec Thomas Ledin est sorti en 1982, extrait de l'album The Human Touch de ce dernier. En 1983, elle sort les singles "The heat is on", "Wrap your arms around me", "Can't shake loose" et "Man" tous extraits de son premier album Wrap Your Arms Around Me. En 1984, elle sort un single inédit "It's so nice to be rich". En 1985, elle sort les singles "I won't let you go", "One way love", "Just one heart" et "The angels cry" qui sont issus du second album Eyes of a Woman. En 1986, elle sort un nouveau single inédit "The way you are" en duo avec Ola Häkansson (Secret Service). En 1987, le single "The last time" sort suivi en 1988 des singles "It wasn't the one (who said goodbye)" en duo avec Peter Cetera et "Let it shine" qui sont extraits du troisième album I Stand Alone. Le single "The queen of hearts" sorti en 1998 est extrait de sa compilation That's Me: The Greatest Hits. Les deux singles "If i thought you'd ever change your mind" et "When you walk in the room" sortis en 2004 sont extraits du quatrième album My Colouring Book. Enfin, cette année, Agnetha Fältskog est de retour avec les trois singles "The one who loves you now", "When you really loved someone" et "Dance your pain away" issus de son dernier et cinquième album A sorti le 10 mai 2013.

Un article spécial sur ABBA pour faire plaisir d'abord à une certaine personne et également en prémice à l'article suivant consacré à l'un des 4 membres du quatuor suédois, mais chut, surprise! ABBA est un groupe de musique pop suédois formé à Stockholm en 1972 par Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson et Anni-Frid Lyngstad dite Frida, dont les initiales du nom ABBA. Le groupe a sorti huit albums studio. Le premier album Ring Ring est sorti le 26 mars 1973 et le second album Waterloo est sorti le 04 mars 1974. Encore un an plus tard, le troisième album ABBA est sorti le 21 avril 1975. Le quatrième album Arrival est sorti le 11 octobre 1976. Le cinquième album intitulé The Album est sorti le 12 décembre 1977. Le sixième album Voulez-Vous est sorti le 23 avril 1979. Le septème album Super Trouper est sorti le 03 novembre 1980 et le dernier et huitième album de ABBA qui s'appelle The Visitors est sorti le 30 novembre 1981. A noter qu'un album live qui s'appelle Live! est sorti le 18 août 1986.

Sting (né Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner le 02 octobre 1951) était le chanteur du groupe anglais The Police (voir l'article précédent) et a suivi une carrière solo depuis 1982 mais surtout à partir de 1985 après avoir quitté ses comparses Stewart Copeland et Andy Summers. Musicien et compositeur, il a sorti onze albums studios. Son premier album The Dream of the Blue Turtles est sorti le 01 juin 1985 et obtint un bon succès de part déjà la notoriété du chanteur et du groupe The Police. Son second album ... Nothing Like the Sun sorti le 13 octobre 1987 poursuit le même chemin, tout comme le troisième album The Soul Cages sorti le 22 janvier 1991. Le quatrième album est Ten Summoner's Tales sorti le 09 mars 1993, le cinquième album est Mercury Falling sorti le 12 mars 1996 et le dernier album de cette décade, le sixième de l'artiste est Brand New Day sorti le 28 septembre 1999. Quatre ans plus tard, Sting sort son septième album Sacred Love le 30 septembre 2003. Le huitième album Songs from the Labyrinth sort le 10 octobre 2006. Son neuvième album If On a Winter's Night sort le 27 octobre 2009 et son dixième album Symphonicities sort à peine un an plus tard, soit le 13 juillet 2010. Sting vient de sortir son onzième album studio The Last Ship le 24 septembre 2013.

Sting a sorti durant sa carrière solo une quarantaine de singles. Son premier single est le titre "Spread a little happiness" sorti en 1982 pour la bande son du film Brimstone & Treacle. Il obtient le succès dès la sortie du single "If you love somebody set them free" en 1985 extrait de son premier album The Dream of the Blue Turtles tout comme les singles "Love is the seventh wave", "Fortress around your heart" et le hit "Russians" sortis la même année ainsi que le single "Moon over Bourbon street" sorti en 1986. Sort ensuite le single "We'll be together" en 1987 puis les singles "Be still my beating heart", le hit "Englishman in New-York", "Fragile" et "They dance alone" en 1988 tous issus du second album ... Nothing Like the Sun. En 1991 sortent les singles "All this time", "Mad about you", "The soul cages" et "Why should i cry for you" tous extraits du troisième album The Soul Cages. En 1992, il sort en duo avec Eric Clapton le single "It's probably me" la bande son du film L'Arme Fatale 3. Pas moins de sept singles sortent du quatrième album Ten Summoner's Tales, les titres "If i ever lose my faith in you", "Seven days", "She's too good for me" (uniquement en france), "Fields of gold", "Nothing 'bout me", "Shape of my heart" et "Love is stronger than justice (The munificent seven)" en 1993. En cette fin d'année 1993, il sort également avec Bryan Adams et Rod Stewart le single "All for love" bande son du film Les Trois Mousquetaires, ainsi que l'Ep Demolition Man pour le film du même nom. En 1994 sort le single "When we dance" et en 1995 le single "This cowboy song" tous deux extraits de sa première compilation Fields of Gold: The Best of Sting 1984-1994. En 1996 sortent les singles "Let your soul be your pilot", "You still touch me", "I was brought to my senses" et "I'm so happy i can't stop crying" issus du cinquième album Mercury Falling. En 1997, Sting reprend le standard de The Police, le titre "Roxanne" pour la compilation The Very Best of Sting & The Police. En 1999 sort le single "Brand new day" et en 2000 les singles "Desert rose" avec cheb Mami et "After the rain has fallen" extraits du sixième album Brand New Day. En 2000 toujours, il sort le single "My funny friend and me" bande son du film The Emperor's New Groove. En 2003, Sting sort le single "Send your love" en duo avec Vicente Amigo et le single "Whenever i say your name" en duo avec Mary J. Blige. En 2004, il sort le single "Stolen car (take me dancing) qui sont tous trois issus du septième album Sacred Love. En 2009, le single "Soul cake" est le seul extrait du neuvième album If On a Winter's Night. Le single "Every thing she does is magic" de The Police est reprise en version symphonique par Sting en 2010 seul extrait du dixième album Symphonicities. Enfin, le nouveau single "Practical arrangement" sorti le 15 juillet 2013 est le premier extrait du onzième et dernier album de Sting sorti le 24 septembre 2013 qui s'appelle The Last Ship.

The Police - Historique (1977-1986...)

The Police

Pourquoi maintenant un article sur le groupe The Police me direz-vous? Et bien tout simplement l'envie d'en faire un préambule au prochain article qui sera consacré à Sting et à la sortie notamment de son nouvel album The Last Ship sorti ce 24 septembre 2013. Mais revenons à The Police, groupe anglais de la fin des années 70 début des eighties qui s'était reformé le temps de raviver notre mémoire et notre plaisir lors de nombreux concerts en 2007 et 2008 et dont une compilation double cd était sortie en 2007. Il est à noter qu'une nouvelle et dernière compilation 3 cd s'intitulant The 50 Greatest Songs avait vu le jour le 27 avril 2009 comprenant 50 titres du groupe.

The Police est un groupe ou trio anglais de rock britannique issu de la génération new wave et post-punk formé à Londres en 1977 par Sting (chant, basse), Stewart Copeland (batterie) et Henri Padovani (guitare), ce dernier étant remplacé rapidement après le premier single par Andy Summers. Le trio a sorti cinq albums studio qui ont fait leur succès. Le premier album est Outlandos d'Amour sorti le 02 novembre 1978. Le second album Reggatta de Blanc est sorti l'année suivante le 05 octobre 1979. Très prolifique, le trio sort encore l'année qui suit leur troisième album Zenyatta Mondatta le 03 octobre 1980. Presque un an jour pour jour paraît le quatrième album Ghost in the Machine le 02 octobre 1981. Enfin, le cinquième et dernier album de The Police est Synchronicity qui est sorti le 01 juin 1983 avant que chacun ne suive leur chemin dont celui de Sting qui fait encore parler de lui musicalement aujourd'hui.

Le groupe anglais The Police a sorti une vingtaine de singles tout au long de leur carrière active pendant six ans. Le premier single est le titre "Fall out" en 1977 avec Henri Padovani dans le trio avant qu'Andy Summers ne le remplace. Le second single "Roxanne" sorti en 1978 fut celui du succès, suivi des singles "Can't stand losing you" et "So lonely" la même année et dont les trois derniers cités figurent sur le premier album Outlandos d'Amour. Succès garanti pour les singles "Message in a bottle" et "Walking on the moon" sortis en 1979 qui font partis du second album Reggatta de Blanc tout comme les singles "Bring on the night" (1979) et "The bed's too big without you" sorti en 1980. The Police continue sur la voie du succès avec les singles "Don't stand so close to me" et "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" sortis en 1980 qui sont les deux seuls extraits du troisième album Zenyatta Mondatta. En 1981 sortent les singles "Invisible sun", le superbe "Every little thing she does is magic" et "Spirits in the material world", suivi du single "Secret journey" en 1982 qui sont issus du quatrième album Ghost in the Machine. Le hit single "Every breath you take" est sorti en 1983 tout comme les singles "Wrapped around your finger" et "Synchronicity II", suivis du single "King of pain" sorti en 1984 qui sont extraits du cinquième et dernier album Synchronicity. En 1986, The Police sort le single "Don't stand so close to me '86" extrait de la première compilation Every Breath You Take: The Singles. En 1995, le trio sort le single "Can't stand losing you (live)" extrait de l'album Live! en concert, puis en mai de la même année un Ep intitulé "Voices inside my head" comprenant des remixes de ce titre issu du troisième album Zenyatta Mondatta. Une nouvelle version du titre "Roxanne '97", single qui sera extrait de la compilation The Very Best of Sting & The Police. Enfin, en 2000, le single "When the world is running down" fut sorti par Different Gear Vs The Police, titre original qui figure à l'origine aussi sur le troisième album Zenyatta Mondatta.

Seconde partie aujourd'hui consacrée à la French Touch en ce mois d'octobre et commençons par la sublime Mylène Farmer qui vient de sortir le single "Monkey me" qui est le troisième extrait de son dernier album Monkey Me. Le groupe français Indochine a sorti le single "Black city parade" le 20 septembre 2013 qui est le troisième extrait de l'album du même nom Black City Parade. Le clip a été réalisé par le photographe et réalisateur américain Richard Kern et a été tourné en 2 jours (16 et 17 août 2013) à New-York.

Placebo - Loud Like Love (16/09/2013) + Historique

Le groupe anglais Placebo est de retour avec leur septième album studio intitulé Loud Like Love sorti le 16 septembre 2013. Deux singles en sont déjà extraits, le premier est "Too many friends" sorti le 08 juillet 2013 et le tout nouveau est le titre "Loud like love" sorti le 06 août 2013.

Placebo est un groupe anglais formé à Londres en 1994 par Brian Molko (chant, guitare, basse, synthétiseur) et Stefan Olsdal (basse, guitare, sytnhétiseur, choeurs), rejoints par Robert Schultzberg (batterie, percussion) remplacé en 1996 par Steve Hewitt lui-même remplacé par Steve Forrest en 2008. Le groupe a sorti 7 albums studio et une compialtion à ce jour. Le premier album est tout simplement Placebo sorti le 17 juillet 1996. Le second album s'appelle Without You I'm Nothing sorti le 12 octobre 1998 qui offre une bonne notoriété internationale. Le troisième album s'intitule Black Market Music sorti le 09 octobre 2000. Le groupe atteint le succès mondial avec leur quatrième album Sleeping With Ghosts sorti le 24 mars 2003, succès qui se poursuit avec le cinquième album Meds sorti le 13 mars 2006. Entre temps, Placebo sort deux compilations, tout d'abord un album de reprises intitulé Covers le 22 septembre 2003 puis la compilation Once More With Feeling: Singles 1996-2004. Le groupe sortira leur sixième album Battle For The Sun le 08 juin 2009. Une nouvelle compilation composée de b-sides et raretés intitulée B-Sides: 1996-2006 sort le 07 mars 2011. Enfin, le nouvel album tant attendu, le septième à ce jour est Loud Like Love sorti le 16 septembre 2013.

Le groupe Placebo a sorti une trentaine de singles en vingt ans de carrière. Le premier single est le titre "Bruise Pristine" sorti en 1995 suivi des singles "Come home", "36 degrees", "Teenage angst" sortis en 1996 et le single "Nancy boy" sorti en 1997, tous extraits du premier album Placebo. Le groupe obtient leur premier hit avec le single "Pure morning" sorti en 1998 suivi du single "You don't care about us", puis les singles "Every you every me", "Without you i'm nothing" en duo avec David Bowie et "Burger queen français" sortis en 1999 qui sont issus du second album Without You I'm Nothing. Les singles "Taste in men", "Slave to the wage", "Special K" sortis en 2000 et "Black-eyed" sorti en 2001 sont extraits du troisième album Black Market Music. Le hit single "The bitter end" ainsi que "This picture" et "Special needs" sortis en 2003 et "English summer rain" sorti en 2004 sont extraits du quatrième album Sleeping With Ghosts. Les deux singles "Twenty years" et "Protège-moi" sortis en 2004 sont issus de la compilation Once More With Feeling: Singles 1996-2004. Les quatre hits "Because i want you", "Song to say goodbye", "Infra-red" et "Meds" sortis en 2006 sont extraits du cinquième album Meds. Le single "Running up that hill" sorti en 2007 et reprise d'un hit de Kate Bush fait parti de la compilation Covers. Les singles "For what it's worth", "The never-ending why", "Ashtray heart" sortis en 2009 et "Bright lights" sorti en 2010 sont issus du sixième album Battle For The Sun. Un Ep intitulé B3 est sorti en 2012. Enfin, les deux nouveaux singles "Too many friends" sorti le 08 juillet 2013 et "Loud like love" sorti le 06 août 2013 sont extraits du dernier et septième album Loud Like Love qui vient de sortir.
